Committee charge: Board policies provide direction, transparency, and clarity for the board, administrators, staff, parents, students, and the public when dealing with both the regular functioning of our district and provide guidance in unusual and extraordinary circumstances. The board establishes policies that articulate school district goals and provide long-term continuity. Policies are an essential component of our risk management efforts. They ensure compliance with federal and state mandated requirements when failure to comply can expose the district to legal liability.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Establish priorities in policy review and adoption, in consultation with the superintendent and other district administrators
- Review policy recommendations from board members, other board committees, district employees, superintendent and other administrators, and the public and submit these to the board for adoption, if deemed appropriate.
- Conduct periodic review of policies adopted by the school board, ensure that they are in compliance with Federal and State mandates and recommend changes in accordance with new circumstances.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the school board or the board chairperson.
